18-Wheeler Collision in California Causes Death of a Child

On Monday, California Highway Patrol responded to an automobile wreck between a Chevrolet Tahoe and an 18-wheeler truck on Interstate 580 near Livermore California. According to The Pleasanton Weekly and witnesses at the scene, after the collision the SUV rolled several times, ejecting both child passengers. Both children sustained substantial injuries and one of the children, Carlos Alberto Garcia (age 12) died at the crash site. The Pleasanton Weekly also reports that the truck driver involved in this incident was uninjured.
Following the crash, several lanes of Interstate 580 were temporarily closed to allow the authorities to conduct an investigation on the cause of the incident. The investigation is currently ongoing.
