AT&T Develops Safe Driving Application for Phone

By now, everyone has seen several of the AT&T commercials showing young individuals who have had their lives turned upside-down as a result of text messaging while driving. More than ever, people nationwide are learning about the dangerous effects of distracted driving. For instance, AT&T claims that texting forces the average driver to take their eyes off the road for 5 seconds.

In addition to their  “It Can Wait” campaign asking drivers to pledge on their website that they will no longer text and drive, AT&T has recently come out with an application making it even easier.  The application, AT&T DriveMode, allows drivers to “curb the urge to text while driving.” If the application is running and you are in a vehicle traveling more than 25mph, the application sends a customizable auto-reply to any text message, stating that you are currently on the road and will reply back shortly when it becomes safe.

Additionally, the application allows drivers the option to send all calls straight to voicemail. We hope that drivers are able to take advantage of the application, as we know firsthand how dangerous distracted driving can be. If you’ve been injured as a result of a distracted driver, please don’t hesitate to call the personal injury attorneys at Zinda Law Group for a free consultation.
