What is “full coverage” auto insurance and should I have it?
Full coverage generally means that you have liability (coverage that applies when you are fault for a wreck), collision (coverage that applies to property damage repairs to your vehicle regardless of fault), personal injury protection (coverage for medical bills and lost wages), and uninsured/under-insured motorist (coverage that applies when an uninsured or under-insured motorist collides into you) coverage. It is always a good idea to have full coverage because of the high risk of getting into a wreck, especially one with uninsured motorists. The additional coverage you can carry above and beyond liability often costs just a few more dollars per month. If you are involved in a wreck, this coverage can pay for itself many times over.
