Construction Worker Injured in Explosion

From Highway 121 and streets nearby, the pillar of flames on the side of the road looked like an out of control bonfire. The concentrated flames licked upward, scorching the area and creating a large funnel of smoke that could be seen for miles. But drivers in their cars when the fire began at 8:45 a.m. had no idea that man was involved in the disaster, and was suffering on the ground as they commuted to their workplaces.

According to NBC News, construction workers were tilling the soil for construction when one of the backhoes hit a gas line, rupturing the pipes. As a result, there was a loud hissing sound. While the six workers with the construction company tried to figure out where the steady hissing was coming from, they edged around their work area. Suddenly there was a massive boom as the area exploded into flames. A witness says that he saw construction workers fleeing the scene, but that two did not make it out without injuries.

The McKinney Fire Department says that they were thankful that the crew was all accounted for right off the bat. Even those with burn wounds were present for the evacuation. Because the construction site was in a remote area, no homes were affected by the blast. Some vehicles and digging equipment were destroyed in the explosion. If you were hurt in an explosion that happened while you were on the job, you should receive compensation for your injuries.

You should also be permitted to have paid time off of work to recover from the injury that was merited while you were working. If you are not given proper compensation for your pain, medical bills, and recovery time, then you need to talk to a personal injury attorney at Zinda Law Group right away. We will make sure that you get the money you deserve in court!

San Antonio Parking Garage Collapses Injuring Two Workers

Two people were hospitalized in San Antonio today when a parking structure that was under construction collapsed. There were more than 100 workers in the structure at the time; they began to quickly evacuate as soon as they heard a rumbling sound. Others were alerted by an alarm.

All but two of the people who were working on the garage were able to escape without injury. One of the two is in stable condition; the other, however, is in critical condition.

The building industry is notoriously dangerous, and construction accidents are not uncommon. The workers were somewhat lucky, though, because the parking structure was being built for the San Antonio University Hospital.

Neither the reason for the collapse nor the reasons for the injuries are publicly known. It is likely that the workers could have been injured by a falling object.
