Chicago Bride Sues Groom After Getting Dumped
A Chicago woman who is unhappy about getting dumped only days before her wedding is suing her ex-fiance for the cost of the wedding plus emotional damages.
The bride-to-be, Dominique A. Buttitta, had been dating her groom, Vito V. Salerno, for around six years when she heard from her sister that he was planning on calling off the wedding. He initially denied the allegations, then broke off the wedding a few days later.
Buttitta had spent almost $100,000 on the wedding, including $30,000 for the banquet hall, $10,000 for an orchestra, $11,000 on flowers and $5,000 on the wedding dress.
According to the suit, she is suing for intentional inflection of severe emotional distress; in addition to calling off the wedding and not telling her about it, he also allegedly engaged in lewd acts during his bachelor party at a strip club.
