How to Get a Crash Report in El Paso

If you are involved in a car accident in El Paso and you intend to file a claim, the insurance company will most likely want a copy of the crash report. They will need to determine who is at fault for the accident, so that you can receive compensation for the injuries and/or property damages sustained in the accident.

Crash Report El Paso

You will need to request a copy of the crash report through the City of El Paso Police Department. All requests must be in writing, but you can submit your request by mail, online or in person. Reports are $6 for one copy, and you may pay an additional $2 for a certified copy.

For in person or by mail requests, you will need to go to this link to download the request form. In your request, you should include the exact date of the accident, the location of the crash, the name of the person involved in the crash, and the case number if you know it. If you will be sending the request by mail, do not send payment at this time. You will be charged the appropriate amount when the documents are picked up or delivered. Address the envelope to 300 N. Campbell, 2nd Floor, City Attorney's Office, El Paso, TX 79901.

To hand deliver your crash report request in person, there are multiple locations to choose from. Use this link to view the various locations, as well as other important information regarding crash reports, provided by the City of El Paso.

If you would prefer to request your crash report online, use this link. You will need to log in or create an account if you have not used this service before. Once you are logged in, simply follow the directions of the program. When your request is approved, you will be sent your copy of the crash report via your preferred method of delivery.

The crash report should include important details such as, the parties involved, who the officer found to be at fault, where and when the accident took place, and the events proceeding after the collision. Severe injuries and significant monetary damages are often a result of car accidents. Acquiring a copy of the crash report is an important initial step in recovering damages from the accident.
