How to get a crash report in San Antonio

Under the unfortunate circumstance that you are filing a claim because you were involved in a car accident in San Antonio, you will most likely need to acquire a copy of the crash report done by the law enforcement officer who aided with the accident. In Texas, it is the officer’s duty to submit a report of any crash that results in injury or death of a person or damage to the property of any one person to the apparent extent of $1,000 or more. This must be filed within ten days following the date of the accident.

If you plan to seek any recovery from the accident you were involved in, the insurance company will request a copy of the crash report once you file a claim. This is due to several reasons. Although it may include errors, the crash report is the best way to determine who was involved, who was at fault, where it took place, who witnessed it, and the events following the initial collision. Best case scenario, the crash report will be a detailed account of the entire incident. This will make it much easier to prove who caused the accident and then to receive compensation for any damages that were a result of the accident.
