COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - At least one person was killed in a crash involving a scooter on Monday in Colorado Springs.
The crash was reported just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of North Academy and Maizeland Road. The area is close to the southeast side of Palmer Park.
The intersection was back open at about 6:45 p.m.
According to police, the scooter was traveling southbound on Academy Boulevard when it hit an SUV that was stopped in traffic for the red light at Maizeland Road. Investigators don’t believe the driver of the SUV was under the influence, and it isn’t clear if the scooter was speeding at the time of the crash. The driver of the scooter died at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
