Downed Power Line Causes Fire in Galveston Home

Tropical Storm Hermine is wreaking havoc all throughout Texas. The wind and rain caused a power line to fall into an alley behind a home in Galveston. The power from the line traveled to the television set and then caused a small explosion in the bedroom of the home.

A neighbor saw the explosion and heard the breaking glass. He immediately tried to put the fire out and called the homeowners. The fire was put out after only a few minutes, and it was contained to the bedroom of the home.

No one was home or harmed in the incident.

The power company was not able to immediately respond to the downed line because it was dealing with many other power outages and issues in the area. After the fire was reported, however, they did turn off the power until the line could be handled.
