Drunk Driver Kills 2 Homeless Men at Bus Stop in Car Crash
Two homeless men were sleeping at a bus stop when a pickup truck ran into the bus stop. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. The bus stop was completely destroyed in the wreck as well. The names of the two men have not been publicly released, as they are waiting until their families can be properly notified.
The driver of the pickup, 50 year old Julian Cadena Cerda, is being charged with intoxication manslaughter. He is also being charged with driving under the influence after failing the field sobriety test.
The accident occurred near a homeless shelter and across from Parkland Memorial Hospital around 2 a.m. Monday morning.
The victims' families may choose to file a civil suit against Cerda for wrongful death damages.
