Family Saved from Fire by Toddler's Warning

A Houston family is recovering after surviving a fire in their duplex. The two parents and four children were all treated at the hospital for smoke inhalation, and the father suffered burn injuries to his hands. The outcome could have been much worse, however, if it were not for the efforts of their 2 year old daughter.

The toddler awoke around 2:15 a.m. and saw the flames in her room. She wisely went to wake up her father, who then quickly rescued the other children. Often, children attempt to hide from home fires by staying in a corner or closet. This unfortunately can intensify their injuries and may even end up being fatal. Thankfully, that was not the case this time, and all members of the family are expected to recover.

Fire fighters are still investigating the cause of the fire. If it was caused because of faulty wiring or the negligence of the neighbor in the duplex, the family may decide to file a personal injury claim against the responsible individual.
