Parker County officials are stymied over finding a downed helicopter near an old army base. The helicopter had been reported missing the night before, and when it was found the pilot was still inside, deceased but with no signs of trauma. Before it was reported missing, it had been flying over Fort Wolters State Park. The helicopter was not damaged at all, which indicates that the pilot had time to land the plane before he died.
Local airport officials at Mineral Wells Airport did not know where the helicopter had come from, and details about the identity of the pilot have not been released. It is also not known whether there were any other passengers on board, or if foul play was involved. It appears as if police are treating this as an accidental death.
