What to Look Out for When Handling Insurance Claims

Last updated on: March 9, 2015

Whenever you have an insurance claim, remember how this company makes its money. You or somebody else is paying premiums and the way that they lose that money is by having to pay out clams on its premiums or on those policies. The less they pay out, the more money they make. You have to keep that in mind whenever you’re talking to an insurance adjuster for a claim because they don’t have your best interest at heart. While there may be exceptions to that rule, their general motivation is to pay the least amount on your claim that they can. The larger your claim, the more contentious that is going to become because there’s more at risk for them. It’s important to meet with an attorney and let them handle that process or at least advise you as to the best way to do it. One of the most important things is, do not give a recorded statement if it can be avoided. Talk to an attorney, definitely before you give a recorded statement.
