Woman Dies in Swap Meet Go-Kart Accident

Hwa Oh, a 67 year old woman, was test driving a go-cart at a swap meet when she lost control of the vehicle, ran through bushes and into traffic. She was struck by a car and killed.

Her daughter reports that the vendor asked if her mother wanted to test drive the go-kart, and after saying yes, was killed shortly after in the accident. The swap meet, which was in Stanton, CA, may have to put up new restrictions about test driving products such as go-karts. It has not been reported whether the vendor will face any consequences or if the daughter will sue for wrongful death. It does not appear as if Oh was given proper safety instructions or equipment.

The driver who hit Oh was not given a ticket or arrested by police. It is also unknown whether the go-kart had any defects which contributed to the fatal accident.
