- There were 12,161 serious injury crashes in Texas in 2018 with 14,908 people sustaining a serious injury.
- There were no deathless days on Texas roadways in 2018.
As for the most dangerous roadway conditions in Texas, the Texas Department of Transportation reported that out of the 543,537 car crashes that occurred in 2018:
- 450,489 occurred on dry roads.
- 81,290 occurred on wet roadways.
- 3,479 occurred on roadways with standing water.
- 3,181 occurred on icy roadways.
INCREASING POPULATION AND INCREASING TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS IN SAN ANTONIO
In 2018, the U.S. Census Bureau, estimated that about 1,432,233 people lived in San Antonio. As the population in San Antonio increases, so does the amount of both commuters and traffic, and ultimately, traffic accidents. In 2018 alone, the Texas Department of Transportation reported a total of 42, 043 crashes in San Antonio, and increased to over 53,000 in 2019.
