[Dallas County, April 20, 2023] – Zinda Law Group has secured a significant settlement of $1,002,500 for their client after a tragic crash on September 26, 2022.
The lawsuit was brought against the defendant by the client and their attorneys at Zinda Law Group after a disastrous incident. Our client and another passenger were traveling in Balch Springs, Texas behind the defendant’s 1993 Peterbilt tractor, pulling a 2007 Lufkin Industries trailer. The universal joint of the tractor trailer combo dislodged and fell onto the roadway, causing the client to collide with it, resulting in their vehicle catching fire.
Despite efforts by EMS to rescue the passenger, they tragically lost their life due to severe injuries sustained. The incident also left our client with facial burns as she bravely attempted to save her family member. The profound impact of this tragic event cannot be understated, and Zinda Law Group aggressively fought on behalf of their client to address the loss and suffering endured by the victims and their loved ones and get them the justice they deserve.
The defendant, who had gained operating authority with the USDOT in 2018, had sworn to uphold the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, which require the proper inspection, maintenance, and repair of commercial motor vehicles. However, it became evident that the vehicle was in a state of disrepair, leading to the catastrophic incident.
The settlement amount of $1,002,500 serves as an acknowledgment of the responsibility and liability borne by the defendant. While no amount of money can fully compensate for the tragic loss of life and the enduring emotional pain, the settlement intends to assist the affected parties in their journey towards healing and recovery and to take a small step towards achieving Zinda Law Group’s goal for a safer world.
