Should I hire a personal injury attorney, and who?
A victim of a personal injury should consider hiring an attorney only if the attorney can provide a benefit. Attorneys often can be helpful and increase case value based on (1) their knowledge of the claims process, (2) ability to evaluate a claim, (3) knowledge of the laws that affect claims, and (4) understanding of all claims available to a claimant. The decision of which attorney to hire should not be taken lightly. You should never hire a personal injury attorney if that attorney is not prepared to take your case all the way to a jury trial. Some attorneys do not want to be in court and will not file lawsuits. Insurance companies know who those attorneys are and make them lower settlement offers on their cases. Any personal injury victim who hires an attorney should make sure that individual is a trial attorney who dedicates themselves to practicing personal injury law.
