Working out of our El Paso office, Leonel is a dedicated and tenacious personal injury attorney who advocates for his clients at all stages of their case. While Leonel was born in El Paso, he grew up his first 12 years of life in an impoverished part of Juarez, Mexico. Given this, he understands what it is like to be in need and can relate to his clients. Moreover, he is fluent in Spanish. Through a compassionate and attentive approach, he ensures that his clients can focus on their recovery while he manages the legal world and concentrates on maximizing their compensation.
Leonel received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2011, triple majoring in Political Science, Psychology, and Creative Writing. Moreover, Leonel earned his Masters in Secondary Education from Arizona State University in 2013. Leonel taught 8th grade Social Studies in Phoenix, Arizona, as part of Teach for America, which further cemented his need to give back to his community. Given this, Leonel went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law, where he distinguished himself as the Editor in Chief of the Texas Hispanic Journal of Law and Policy and served on the board of the Chicano Hispanic Law Student Association.
Prior to joining Zinda Law Group, Leonel worked as a trial associate attorney at a prominent defense law firm in El Paso, and his practice included insurance defense, commercial litigation, and construction litigation, among others. While Leonel enjoyed this line of work, he knew he wanted to follow his calling to help everyday people, not work against them.
Leonel is admitted to the Texas and New Mexico State Bars and he believes his clients should not have to worry about a complicated legal system after an accident. With this in mind, his clients find a sense of security in the knowledge that Leonel has their best interests at heart every step of the way.
Outside of the office, Leonel enjoys watching and playing soccer, dancing, reading, studying languages, and spending time with his wife and two little daughters.
